The Best of 2016

I've pulled together a few of my favourite people, places and moments from a huge year of awesome weddings.

Featured Weddings

A selection of awesome weddings from the past year...

Jane & Simon

Wye River General Store, The Great Ocean Road

Jane and Simon tied the knot in spectacular fashion down in Wye River. We took SImon's late father's MG for a spin on The Great Ocean Road and explored the incredible coastline.

Aylin & Dan flew over from San Francisco to host a beautifully rustic & rural wedding at the two best venues on the Bellarine Peninsula. That view of the You Yangs from Baie Wines.... stop it!

These boys held an extravaganza over two days: an intimate ceremony at the British Consulate and then a big shindig to celebrate with their firends at the fantastic Baths in Brighton.

Fitzroy Gardens & Trunk, Melbourne

Bah gawd I love these guys! Such a fun day with a little bit of everything; dancing, confetti, firemen and a runaway veil.
Defs worth a look.

Alice & Ryan

Mount Hotham, Victoria

Alice & Ryan had the most perfect wedding at the summit of Mt Hotham.
The views, the yellow Kombi,  the vibe, the everything.
This one is definitely not to be missed.

A big fun industrial Greek wedding at the fabulous Laurens Hall. Elena and Dave put on a fantastic party featuring a golf cart entrance, food trucks and traditional Greek dancing/plate smashing!

A stunning hand crafted country wedding at Chris's family home down in Main Ridge on the Mornington Peninsula.

Kelvin & MaT

Rupert on Rupert, Collingwood

Kelvin and Mat eloped to Canada the previous year but they wanted to throw a party to celebrate with their friends and family back in Aus. This was a super stylish reception at the uber cool Rupert on Rupert.

Bridget & matt

The Barn, Wallington

An absolute barnstormer! (geddit, barn-stormer... never mind) This was a fab DIY rustic barn wedding of two fantastic humans who did not stop smiling all day.

Stones of the Yarra Valley

The legends known as Zoe & Andrew threw a big, elegant, Jewish wedding at Stones of the Yarra Valley.: Not many brides ditch the heels to get stuck into a bit of extreme sports on their wedding day like these two!

takes photos.

To me, photography is the best kind of storytelling.  It’s how I like to look back on some of life’s best bits.

In terms of style, you can safely group me under the ‘fly on the wall doco-style photographer.  I prefer to capture people just being themselves. Think less posing and saying cheese and more just documenting things visually.

As for me, I'm just a normal dude with a love of breakfast foods, a decent pale ale and coffee, lot's of coffee. The other loves in my life are Archie, my little boy, my little girl Maggie and CJ, my beautiful wife. They're the biggest part of my story so far.  And when I’m not clicking buttons on my cameras, I’m usually out trekking through the woods around the Peninsula on imaginary bear hunts with my little people.

So, that’s a bit about me.  I'd love to hear more about you and how you’re planning to ring in your big day or mark time with your family.

If you like what you’ve seen around here and think we’d make a good team, then let's have a chat and see if I'm the one for you.

- Dan

Photographing Archie from day dot has been something I’ve really enjoyed about being his dad. I’ll sit for hours and trawl back through images of him over the last two incredible years.  Some make me laugh, others turn me into a big softy.  And yes, like everyone says, they change by the minute.  The importance of documenting those real moments in his life, whether we’re stomping through bush looking for koalas or just hanging around home drinking ‘chocolate teas’, resonates with me so much more now.

I’m really fortunate to be able to document similar moments for other families that hopefully they too can share, look back on and feel the ol’ ticker beating a little harder.

Here’s a little selection of my family photography.

My Adventures

Here are a few stories from my own personal vault

Iceland & The Faroe Islands

I was lucky enough to get the golden ticket from my fabulous wife and take a few weeks to visit these remarkable lands.

Three becomes four

Carly was 8 months pregnant and we took Archie out to the paddock behind our house to enjoy the sunset and our last few weeks of being a gang of three.

Life is a Beach

Sea change - so many people dream of it, we were lucky enough to actually do it. I love my new home by the ocean even when it's the middle of winter.

Flinders Blowhole

By far my favourite place to explore down here on 'the ninch', Flinders blowhole is rough, rugged and wild. It reminds me of far away lands, .
